This past week our Question of the Day and Vocabulary of the Day was not updating.  We also heard from our subscribers that nightly email summaries were not being delivered.

We found the source of these issues, and full functionality has returned.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Last night we had to perform emergency server maintenance on our database servers. We postponed the work until after main site hours to minimize interruption. We apologize for any inconvenience to our late-night users of the site. We should not have to perform this again in the near future.

Good luck on upcoming tests. as down this morning from around 9:16 AM EST to 10:05 AM EST due to an outage at our datacenter. Our site is now online and operational. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and your students.

We found and fixed a bug with our help videos. The bug only affected users with Internet Explorer 7, causing the video to play out of view of the user. This has now been corrected and all videos play correctly.

This morning from approximately 8:30-9:00 A.M. we experienced a DOS (Denial of Service) attack on our firewall server.  This effected the CPU utility on our firewall that prevented access.  DOS attack was blocked/disabled and the issue was resolved.  Our firewall has been adjusted to prevent similar future attacks.

We apologize to all teachers and students that may have experienced an outage.  We always over-budget resources and equipment so students experience the best connection and server experience possible.

Thank you for your understanding.

Today, we discovered a small problem with our tutorial questions that is only noticed by subscribers using Internet Explorer 6.0.  Students may be caught in a loop of questions if they attempt to “retry missed questions”. If you are able to upgrade your version of IE to 7.0, this should resolve this problem. However, if not, we will continue to work hard on this problem and have it corrected soon.

The last three weeks presented technical challenges for the site. We received reports of slow user experience and code lock-ups. We made several adjustments to the server including code edits, hardware replacement, and server setting changes. The bulk of this work was completed by Wednesday afternoon October, 23rd. We contacted most subscribers that had previously experienced problems and they reported service improvements. Our internal data monitoring also concludes significant speed improvements. Our goal is to always maintain premium server speed and performance for all subscribers. We apologize for any frustration caused during this time.

We feel we have isolated and corrected 99% of the coding errors on the site that were related to our server upgrade.

Special thanks to the following folks:

  • Andrew – Programmer extraordinaire
  • Buffy Hamilton – Patient media specialist at Creekview High School
  • Mary Claire Boatright – Patient media specialist at Pierce County High School
  • Heather Harrison – Patient teacher at Pierce County High School

Also our sincerest apologies to all students and teachers that have experienced technical difficulties the last few days. If you have any questions or comments, please, do not hesitate to contact us.

Good luck on your upcoming tests!

Due to our server upgrade over the past weekend, the site is experiencing some technical difficulties. Specifically we are noticing a problem with our diagnostic tests.

We are currently working around the clock to correct this.  Our biggest challenge is, it is not happening on all networks.  There appears to be a conflict with our code and some school networks.

Again, we offer our sincere apologies if your school is experiencing problems.

Beginning Tuesday, April 22nd, we experienced an unprecedented server load. Due to the upcoming End of Course testing across many states, we have had more students using USATestprep to help them review this week than ever before. As a result, some of you may have experienced a slow or problematic browsing experience between the peak hours of 10:00 A.M. and Noon, EST.

To alleviate this problem, we have placed an emergency server upgrade order and plan to have it installed this weekend. We apologize for any inconvenience or unproductive class time for you or your students. Thank you for continuing to use USATestprep, and we will continue to do our best to make our site the best possible review product available.

Do not hesitate to call or email if you have any questions or concerns.
