ACT Review

Friday, March 16th, 2012

You asked for it, now we’ve got it.

Because USATestprep subscribers requested it, we recently completed development of an online review product for all four sections of the ACT. We custom built this resource to correspond to the ACT College Readiness Standards. Our offerings include ACT Reading, English, Mathematics and Science. Each new test review includes all of the same great features as our current products. And, they are being offered at similarly affordable rates.

We can add any of our ACT products to your current subscription, so just give us a call or an email. As will all of our services, we can have the ACT Review available to your account within 24 hours of receiving your credit card or purchase order. We can also provide you with a pro-rated price so all your expiration dates match. We look forward to hearing from you!

New Features!

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

We’ve just added a few new features to USATestprep that you should know about.

We’ve just added lots of new avatars for teachers and students. Users can now choose from a devious but handsome Rat, a conniving T-Rex, two new Teacher options (but only for teachers), a Chicken Overlord, a hungry Caterpillar, and a beautiful Butterfly.

A few of these characters can even be seen in our brand new projector-based game, Time Bus. It will remind you of those days of playing board games as a kid, but now you can go it online using your LCD projector while reviewing important curriculum with your students. Be sure to check out the How-To video we have on this new game.

Finally, you’ve always been able to merge a student’s multiple accounts as an Account Admin. Now our “Student Merge Suggestor” will help you out. Clicking that option will enable you to merge many accounts for many students with a simple mouse click. Again, please check out our How-To Video on this new feature.

We know these tools will make using the site a little more colorful, fun, and easy. Let us know if you have any comments or questions.

Quick Tips: Nightly Emails

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

All student scores can be found at any time on USATestprep by looking at one of three tabs on your Home page: Student Results, Benchmarks, or Assignments.

However, you can ALSO get notifications of student results sent to you via email each night. All you need to do is click the “Receive Nightly Email Summary” option at the bottom of the Student Results tab.

This program runs from our servers in the early morning hours when most users are asleep. It works to keep you updated daily on your students’ activities. You’ll probably notice that it is unchecked by default, so you will need to recheck it if you would like to take advantage of this option.

Quick Tips: Adding New Students

Thursday, January 5th, 2012
Inevitably, you’ll have to add or remove students to or from an existing class. The start of a new grading period is a pretty likely time for this. Fortunately, student management is a pretty easy task.

From your Classes tab, click “Manage Class” on the right.

Then, click the green “Add/Remove Students” button on the right.

On the new window you will see existing Students in This Class. If you see a student that is no longer in this class, you can remove him or her from the list by clicking on the red “X”. To add students, you have a few options: 1) you can click on the letter that corresponds to their last name, 2) you can click “Advanced Search” to search for their specific first or last name, or 3) you can click any students that are listed in the field below the alphabetic list. Whichever method you use, click the “+Add” link to place them in your class.

You will then have the option of having the system give each added student the assignments you previously created. If you want to do this, either click the “All” link or click the box next to each assignment. To skip this, click “Continue without adding assignments.”

After that… you’re done!

If a student has never used USATestprep before, he/she will need to have an account created before he/she can be added. Please refer to our earlier Blog entry about doing this, or check out our How To Videos from your Home page.

Quick Tips: Videos

Monday, December 5th, 2011

Sometimes you may pull up a video that won’t work for you. When this happens, it is really best to check things on your end. Here are a few tips:

- If this is on a school computer, check with the IT department before doing anything.
- Make sure you have updated your web browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc.) to the latest version.
- Check that you have the latest version of Adobe Flash on the computer.
- If you are attempting to use this on a mobile phone or iPad the videos will not work because they do not support Adobe Flash.

Please let us know if you are still having problems.
