Many Mississippi subscribers had been curious about how we were going to deal with the new frameworks that were put in place over the summer by the Department of Education for English II and Algebra I. We have been busy staying on top of these new standards and have now completed the update to the site. Upon logging in, you will see these changes to the two new tests, with the (Revised) subheading. However, you still will be able to use the standards from the old frameworks, if any of your students require testing based on these. They are listed at the top of the subject page in blue and conspicuously labeled. We hope this helps your students. Enjoy.
Much of our work this summer was spent addressing the most common request from our Georgia subscribers in our Spring survey, to further breakdown the EOCT reviews. We have now accomplished just that. After logging in to any GHSGT subject for review, you will see the two EOCT sub-tests listed at the top of the page. We have just completed breaking these down into the same content areas and percentages as indicated by the state. In addition, all EOCT reviews are up-to-date with the new Georgia Performance Standards: Physical Science and Biology, Economics and US History, 9th Grade and American Literature. We hope you are now better able to help your students with these tests as they come up at the end of this and next semester. Enjoy.
We have updated our science test to match the new AHSGE Biology test. If you subscribed to science AHSGE in the past you automatically have access to this new version. The good news is that you also still have access to the old version of the test. To use the old version, simply click on the Biology tab and you will see a link to the old science test just below it.
We have just completed the archiving of your key user statistics.
This includes: Logins, Tests, Games, Quizes, etc.
We do this at the beginning of every school year so that you may more easily track the usage of the site by current students and teachers.
Email Review Subscriptions We also delete all email subscriptions. This is to prevent graduated students from receiving these emails. We want to help fight spam at all times. If you wish to re-subscribe, simply login to your account and register at the Email Review section.
Archived Tests If you wish to find a student’s test score from last year, make sure to check the “archive” check box when searching for his/her test results.
Game High Score Board We also reset this so students may compete and set new high scores.
View Your StatsRemember, you can always login to your account and click the “account details” button to see your real-time and archived stats at any time.
We are pleased to announce new versions of the Georgia Biology, Algebra, and Geometry EOCT products on our site. Here is a list of major changes.
1) Each test is now broken down into component domains.
2) New printable resources available for each domain.
3) No cost to current subscribers.
We are also doing the same with all Georgia EOCT and will have it completed by fall ’07. We made this change to provide the best possible product to help students with these tests.
Future features that are being considered were all well-received. In order of perceived value, respondents felt that the Student Remediation Tracker would be most useful. The rest in order are: Breaking down EOCT content by domain, The ability for teachers to add questions, Developing a head-to-head review game, and Audio reading of questions. We have all of these on our anticipated release schedule and will be working on them throughout the upcoming school year.
Some new features that users would value that were not in our list of anticipated changes, include (in order of most to least requested): individual topic area tutorials, individual student progress tracking, on-site help, LCD projector settings, and more printable materials. Our plans have now been modified to include many of these useful features. We anticipate making great strides over the course of the next year to meet these needs while maintaining our quality and ease-of-use. If you ever have comments, ideas or feedback on the site, please contact us directly. We appreciate all feedback from our users.
I LOVE USATestPrep! My 24 students used it every day for one hour. They were impressed with the variety of questions, ease of use, e-mail ability of system, and fun of working online. Every single one of my students passed the GHSGT this spring! All but two passed at the “pass plus” level!!! I am so thankful that my principal invested in USATestPrep for our school!!!
As of June 1, 2007, 284 subscribers completed the 14 question survey sent to all contacts of all accounts that subscribe to USATestprep for graduation/end of course online review. These users come from 147 different schools; this represents approximately 25% of all of our current users. Of the respondents, 70% came from Georgia, 10% from Alabama, 9% from South Carolina, and the remaining respondents were split from Mississippi, California, Tennessee and Nevada. The vast majority of respondents were classroom teachers, 71%. Administrators, Counselors, and Media Specialists make up the rest, at around 10% each.
The most important information that was uncovered was that 99% of respondents feel that USATestprep has helped their students review for their tests, and would recommend USATestprep to other schools.
The most valued and used resource by subscribers is the diagnostic practice test. Next, in order of usefulness and value to users are: Tutorial Practice Questions, Section Quizzes, Student Data Tracking, Quiz and Worksheet Generators, Educational Games, Matching Activities and Vocabulary Flashcards round out the top 10. The least used features include the Glossary, the Email review and, lastly, the Blog.
“I like the immediate feedback for the students; also appreciate your consideration in rewording questions when teachers send an email asking about a particular test item or questionable answer choices; Like the the different length tests so that you can incorporate review time during class based on your daily lesson plans; this site has been a wonderful resource for EOCT prep and the high school graduation test!!! Our first time test takers scored 7% higher this year than last on the GHSGT, partly due to this wonderful resource.”
Educators, take our brief 2007 survey for a chance to win a $100 Target gift certificate.
WOW! In less than one week, we have received over 100 applications for only 2 Question Author Positions. Obviously, we have found MANY qualified candidates. At this time, we have to stop accepting applications to be able to go through them all. We appreciate all of you who submitted applications, and we will be getting back to the final candidates by phone or email by the end of the week.
According to the Rome News-Tribune, Rome City Schools and Floyd County Schools are pleased with the gains made on their most recent Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT). Four of the five high schools in this area are USATestprep subscribers. Rome High School saw major jumps in social studies, nine points to 93 this year from 84 in 2006, and science, which rose five points to 82 from 77. The statewide numbers in social studies went to 87 from 85 and rose in science to 74 from 72.
“I am just tickled to death and have nothing but praise for Dr. (Tygar) Evans,†Superintendent Gayland Cooper said of his principal at Rome High School after he reviewed the scores. “I’m just very excited and thrilled about the improvements in social studies and science. This shows administrators, teachers and students are working together to improve.â€
When we contacted Dr. Evans, he stated that, “Yes, I am excited about the contributions that USATestPrep had on our preparation for the GHSGT this year at Rome High School. I feel our students used the information wisely and it had a positive impactâ€.
